Best Ways To Enter Safe Mode in Windows 10 and Windows 8

This article will tell you how to enter safe mode in Windows 10 and Windows 8.

In some cases, you can’t log in to Windows 10. This sounds like the worst problem that Windows users can face. Because they can’t access their applications and files, and not being able to login to Windows 10 can cause major issues especially if you use Windows 10 frequently for company projects.

How to boot into safe mode in Windows 10 or 8

If you also face this problem, one of the most common steps is to boot into safe mode in Windows 10 or 8.

Note: All of these methods below should work exactly the same in Windows 8 as it does in Windows 10.

How To Enter Safe Mode In Windows 10 and Windows 8

Method 1: Use the Shift + Restart combination

The first way to boot into Safe Mode in Windows 10 is use the Shift + Restart combination. To do that, follow the steps:
Step 1. Click the Start menu then click on the Power button.
Step 2. Then, you press and hold the Shift key and click Restart. This will reboot Windows 10 and ask you to choose an option. Select Troubleshoot.
Step 3. Next, from the Troubleshoot screen, you choose Advanced options.
Step 4. From the Advanced options screen, you select Startup Settings.
Step 5. Click Restart.
Step 6. At this step, you will choose which boot options you want to enabled. To enter Safe Mode Windows 10, you have three different options.

  • Enable Safe Mode: Press the F4 or 4 key.
  • Enable Safe Mode with Networking: Press the F5 or 5 key.
  • Enable Safe Mode with Command Prompt: Press the F6.or 6 key.

Method 2: Use the System Configuration tool (msconfig.exe)

Another method of getting into Safe Mode in Windows 10 is to use the System Configuration tool (msconfig.exe). To do that, you can follow the steps:
Step 1. First, you run System Configuration in Windows 10 by pressing the Windows key + R, then type msconfig and press Enter.
Step 2. Then you switch to Boot tab. Under the Boot options section, choose the Safe boot option and click OK.
Step 3. Windows 10 will show you that you need to restart your computer to apply these changes. To boot into Safe Mode in Windows 10, click Restart.
