There is no email program associated to perform the requested action. Please install an email program or, if one is already installed, create an association in the Defaults Programs control panel

Actually, this error may appear while you try to email a file using one of these ways:

  • Right-click a contact from your Contacts folder, select Action > Send E-mail.
  • Right-click a picture file/image, opted Send To > Mail Recipient.
  • Select a file from File Explorer ribbon under Share tab, click Email button.

So, in this tutorial, I am going tell you how to overcome this problem using Registry Editor.

Fix Windows 10: There is no email program associated to perform the requested action

I highly suggest that you should create a System Restore point before does this way. Because these steps below will involve registry manipulation. If you make mistakes when manipulate registry could affect your system adversely.

Step 1. Press Windows Key + R then type regedit in Run dialog box to open Registry Editor. Press Enter or click OK.

Step 2. From the left pane of Registry Editor, go to following registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Clients\Mail\Microsoft Outlook

Step 3. Now you right click on Microsoft Outlook key and click Delete. If the Confirm Key Delete dialog box pops up, you select Yes to erase the key.

Step 4. In the step, go to Settings > select System > select Default apps.

Step 5. On the right pane of the window, you need to find Email heading. Then select the app name next to it and under click an app, choose Mail as the default email client.

Step 6. Lastly, restart your system to make changes effective. Then check if the error has resolved.
