Solution 1. Run CHKDSK

You should be able to fix SFC error ‘Windows resource protection could not perform the requested operation‘ by launching CHKDSK. To do that, follow these steps

Step 1. First of all, you launch Command Prompt As Administrator.
Step 2. In the Command Prompt window, you type CHKDSK C: /R and press Enter.
Step 3. Next, you type Y and press Enter again.
Step 4. Finally, you restart your computer and wait until that CHKDSK scan to finish.

Solution 2. Change security descriptors

If SFC scan fails due to the fact that it cannot acces winsxs folder, I advise you should modify security descriptors of this folder manually. To do that, follow these steps:

Step 1. First of all, you run Command Prompt As Administrator.
Step 2. In the Command Prompt window, you type ICACLS C:\Windows\winsxs and hit Enter.
Step 3. Move on, you exit Command Prompt window and restart your computer.

Solution 3. Using DISM Commands

Step 1. First of all, you open Services snap-in by pressing Windows + R key and type services.msc in the Run dialog box.

Step 2. In the Services window, you need to locate the Windows Module Installer service. Then you double click on the service to open its Properties.

Step 3. Next, you set the Startup type to Manual. Then click Start button to let the service running for while (as the Properties window shown below)
